Turkey at Christmas

Ok So , why Turkey at christmas ,

It not aleways been turkey at Christmas ,I find it a strange thing for brits to be eating turkey at Christmas ,not even Americans eat turkey for Christmas , well most of them , The majority of families (90%) around the UK will serve up a succulent roast turkey as the centre piece of their festive meal this Christmas. i'm surprised they can fit it in their microwaves to be honest ,).

It was first brought over to the British Isles in 1526 by Yorkshirman William Strickland who acquired six birds from American Indian traders on his travels and sold them for a tuppence each in Bristol. Before that it was anything from swan to peacock, you would not get away with that now, although a Swiss chef friend of mine has eaten a swan , being Swiss italian and a big lump of a guy ,they will eat and shoot almost anything. He said it was a bit tough as it was an old bird,).

That raises another question , can the British crown charge someone for eating a swan outside of the UK. ill get back to you on that also.

Why not eat a swan this christmas, The strangest bird i have eaten was a tandoori Budgie at Hari Raya festivities (Muslim Christmas) in Singapore, was a bit dry.

So there you have it , get a peacock and impress your friends , clients or family this christmas, with feathers and bows .like some sort of morbid and transvestiation lord of the flies.
